Historian position – Michigan History Center
The Michigan History Center is hiring a one-year grant-funded historian position in Detroit to continue the work on the Ulysses S. Grant House and the Historical Marker program. The position’s main task is building community partnerships around how Detroit’s history, particularly Detroit’s Black and Indigenous history, is interpreted through the state’s historical marker program and the Julia and Ulysses S. Grant House. The historian will conduct historic research using a wide array of source material; develop public programs; work with community stakeholder groups on themes and direction for interpretive planning; conduct front end and formative evaluation; assist with managing facilitators and historians; and communicate with partners and others about the projects.
