student kudos – museum studies minor
Kudos to… Hannah Thoms, an undergraduate student in Anthropology, History, and Museum Studies, received the Terrence McDonald Award. Terrence McDonald was the former Dean of LSA and is the current Director of the Bentley Historical Library. The award was established by Honors alumnus, John Rapaport, to recognize the finest thesis which made substantial use of archives or museums. Hannah’s thesis is titled “Collecting New Guinea: Transformations in the Lives of Four Ethnographic Collections, 1875-1988.” Hannah studied collections from Papua New Guinea at the University of Michigan Museum of Anthropological Archaeology as well as records and collections from UM’s Bentley Historical Library, New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and the American Museum of Natural History, and Chicago’s Field Museum.
