UM Inclusive History Project, Towards Community-Based Shared Stewardship – Research Associate
The Inclusive History Project’s (IHP) Towards Community-Based Shared Stewardship project, a collaboration between the Bentley Historical Library (BHL) and the University of Michigan School of Information (UMSI), seeks a part-time graduate student assistant to support its work to develop shared stewardship practices.
The graduate student assistant will:
- conduct research into collections on LGBTQ+ and/or African American history
- identify and engage in outreach to source communities
- plan and execute community engagement events to activate archival collections within source communities, and collaborate with BHL staff as needed.
The hourly rate is $33.46 for doctoral students and $22 for Master’s students. This work will start in summer 2026 and continue through the academic year, with positions involving up to 10 hours of research per week.
Research assistants hired for this project will work closely with the project’s Co-Principal Investigators: Jesse Johnston, Clinical Assistant Professor of Information, School of Information; and Alexis Antracoli, Director, Bentley Historical Library.
