Gallery Educators, UM Museum of Art

The UM Museum of Art is hiring a team of part-time Gallery Educators to lead tours for students in Grades K-12. These are temporary positions for the 2023-24 academic year.  With a team of gallery educators, you will develop and deliver interactive visitor-centered tours and lessons based on Museum objects. The audience will be Southeast Michigan K-12 students and teachers, including all third grade classes in Ypsilanti Community Schools. You will welcome visitors, encourage collaborative conversations, and create a student-centered museum experience. You may occasionally learn and tour with current volunteer guides.

In-person training sessions and tours will be held at UMMA on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30am-12:30pm. Attendance is required. All onboarding and training sessions are compensated.  Approximately two hours per week of additional independent learning is expected.

The tours will occur as follows:

  • Fall Semester: 8 weeks from October – December 2023
  • Winter Semester: 12 weeks from January – April 2024
